William Russell

William Russell

WILLIAM RUSSELLIt gives us just a ridiculous amount of pleasure to be able to announce that the legendary William Russell has accepted our invitation to join us at Whooverville 9. I feel a bit silly attempting to explain who William is, but for the sake of form… together with our other Whooverville 9 guest Carole Ann Ford, William was one of the original quartet of stars of Doctor Who, playing heroic science teacher Ian Chesterton, a role to which he has returned in recent years for Big Finish Productions.

William’s career in film and television goes back to the 1940s and he has appeared in a number of classic films, including The Man Who Never Was and The Great Escape. On television, he was the star of The Adventures of Sir Lancelot and appeared in any number of shows such as Armchair Theatre, Dr Finlay’s Casebook, Father Brown, Crown Court, Van der Valk, Shoestring, The Professionals, The Black Adder, Robin of Sherwood, Boon, Coronation Street, Casualty, Poirot etc, etc. His most recent TV appearance was in the the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Docu-Drama, An Adventure in Space and Time.

It will be an enormous pleasure to welcome him to Derby QUAD on 2nd September.

Many thanks to our friend Derek Hambly of Tenth Planet Events, for arranging this on our behalf.
