More guests will be added as they are confirmed.

Please remember all announced guests appear subject to work commitments.

Frazer Hines

Frazer HinesWe are thrilled to announce that our good friend Frazer Hines will be with us at Whooverville. Of course Frazer Hines has played Jamie on and off for over fifty years now, most recently for Big Finish, for whom he also reincarnates the Second Doctor. Frazer was last our guest at Whooverville 3, so it really is time he came back. It will be great to see him again, we are looking forward to it immensely.

Phil Ford

Phil FordWe are delighted to be welcoming yet another old friend of the Whoovers to Whooverville 9. PHIL FORD is a writer best known for his Doctor Who episodes The Waters of Mars (co-written with Russell T. Davies) and Into the Dalek (co-written with Steven Moffat), as well as for the Doctor Who animation Dreamland, the Doctor Who Adventure Games, the Torchwood episode Something Borrowed and for many episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures, on which he was successively Head Writer and Producer. In fact Phil is (apart from Davies), the only writer to have contributed to Doctor Who and to both spin-off series. With Russell, Phil then co-created Wizards vs. Aliens, for which he has also written many episodes.

Other notable work has included 23 episodes of New Captain Scarlet and contributions to Coronation Street, Heartbeat, Bad Girls, The Bill, Taggart and Waterloo Road. Phil was a terrific guest at a Whoovers meeting last year and we very much look forward to seeing him again.

Michael Pickwoad

Michael PickwoadWe are very pleased to be welcoming another old friend of the Whoovers to Whooverville 9. Michael is the curent production designer for Doctor Who a role he has filled since 2010. He is the son of much loved actor William Mervyn, who appeared in the Doctor Who story The War Machines.

Michael’s career began in the early 1970s and he has worked steadily since. One of his very earliest jobs as production designer was Withnail and I, the film which was crucial to the careers of both Richard E Grant and Paul McGann.

Since the early 1990s he has lead the art departments of many television programmes, including Murder Most Horrid, Kavanagh Q.C., Agatha Christie’s Poirot, The Old Curiosity Shop, the highly-acclaimed film Longford starring Jim Broadbent and Lindsay Duncan and the first episode of Lost in Austen. His final production before coming to Doctor Who was the 2009 revival of The Prisoner. He was also Production Designer for Russell T. Davies’ adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and for the recent Doctor Who spin-off Class.

Michael was a splendid guest at a Whoovers meeting in 2015, having had to withdraw from Whooverville 7. We very much look forward to seeing him again.

Philip Hinchcliffe

Phillip HinchcliffePhilip Hinchcliffe is one of the very best regarded producers that Doctor Who was ever lucky enough to have, presiding over what many regard as a classic period of the show, during the first half of the Fourth Doctor era. Philip formed a tremendous partnership with script editor Robert Holmes, which saw the creation of many fan-favourite stories, including Genesis of the Daleks, Pyramids of Mars and The Talons of Weng-Chiang.

After leaving Who, Philip went on to a long and successful career in TV and film, including producing a number of very highly regarded productions.

Philip was a guest of the Whoovers for a splendid night in 2014, and was due to come to Whooverville 8, but for a scheduling clash. So this will be his first appearance at Whooverville. Our thanks go to Philip for accepting our invitation.

Matthew DaleReturning from Whooverville 8, Matthew Dale will be at Whooverville 9. Matthew played Big John in the Series 8 episode Robot of Sherwood and has also appeared in shows such as Casualty, Stella and Teachers as well as in Star Wars: Rogue One. He is not to be confused with the NZ actor of the same name.

Matthew appears at Whooverville as a sponsored guest and as such will charge for autographs. We look forward to welcoming him back to Derby and to our convention.
